White Whale

Lately, I've been in quite the knitting rut - as anyone who knits with me in "real life" can tell you!  I haven't been picking the most interesting or the most challenging projects.  This is mostly because school and volunteering takes a lot of the brain space that used to be dedicated to knitting.  But also, it's easy for me to get into a stale routine with crafting.  And that's no fun!

So with the help of some ever so gentle prodding from my lady pal, Chelsea, I'm going to tackle a big knitting challenge this year: The Evenstar Shawl.  Dun dun dun.  This is my "white whale" project because for years, I've wanted to knit something that incorporates beads.  But I haven't done it.  Haven't even tried.  Until now!

And since Miss Chelsea has knit it before, she can expect to see me outside her window (which will be impressive since she doesn't live on the ground floor) demanding knitting help.  Seems reasonable, right?

How about you - how you are challenging yourself this year?

Oh, and the picture at the top of the post - totally unrelated but it reminds me that one day winter will be over and it will be GLORIOUS!
